Mortgages by Matt Pruitt, NMLS 846749
I'm Matt Pruitt. I get home loans done in Fort Worth, including the ones other lenders pass on.
Producing Branch Manager, True North Home Loans, a division of American Pacific Mortgage Corporation
My office is in Fort Worth, I live in Aledo, and I've been doing home loans since 2012. I help people buy and refinance across DFW, from first-time buyers to self-employed borrowers and investors.
Who I'm good for
Deals other lenders passed on
A self-employed couple everyone else turned down? I did their deal when no one else could. Banks say no for a lot of reasons, and some of them don't apply everywhere. If your file is complicated, look at non-QM loans or a mortgage after bankruptcy or foreclosure, or just call me.
Self-employed people and investors
I'm an investor myself, so I understand self-employed borrowers and investors on a personal level. I try to help the way I'd want to be helped if I were the borrower. Tax returns undersell you? Bank statement loans. Buying rentals? DSCR loans.
Jumbo and high-net-worth buyers
I work with a lot of financial planners and Realtors who send me their high-net-worth clients. Bigger loans, more moving parts. A big jumbo nobody else could get done? I did it. More on jumbo loans.
First-time buyers, especially teachers
We were renters, so I know what it's like when owning a home feels like something for other people. My mom is still a teacher, so I've got a heart for teachers, and I know the down payment assistance programs for teachers. I've done lots of first-time buyer loans, and getting to be part of that is the good stuff.
How I work
I'm available. We'll laugh along the way. I look out for my people.
The number on this site, 817-873-6288, is my business line, and it rings me.
I have a very high attention to detail, and I can't help but get to the bottom of things. It's my nature. I'm always looking around the corner to see if something could go wrong. I was the curious kid who always asked questions in class when everyone else was ready to get out of there. Chel still makes fun of me for it. And if I don't know the answer to something, I'll find the person who knows and convince them to help or explain it to me.
In my whole career, I've never submitted a file to underwriting that didn't get approved. Part of that is how I'm wired. A big part is the smart, talented, good people around me: my co-branch manager John is wicked smart and helpful, and Mike is hardworking and reliable.
Real estate agents: I'll keep you in the loop from contract to closing.
I've become actual friends with more of my past clients than most mortgage guys I know.
Houses were for rich people
I'm an Oklahoman. I was raised by a single mom who works two jobs to this day. She's a teacher.
We were renters. We didn't buy a house until my mom married my stepdad when I was 15, and right around then I moved in with my dad, into a two-bedroom apartment. I didn't know anything about owning a home. It was for rich people.
Now I get to help people buy the homes I used to think were out of reach.
How I got here
I finished high school in Lewisville and did a year at UTA in Arlington, then went home to Guymon for a couple of years. After that came a stretch in California, mostly waiting tables. That's where I met Chel, now my wife. We were serving together at Mimi's Café in Dublin.
My cousin Aaron was doing loans on the side. On a hike one day he said, "You should come do loans." I said no way, dude. Then he started sending me updates on his paychecks. They were a lot bigger than mine. I took the classes, got licensed, and Chel and I came back to DFW. My first day in Fort Worth was January 4, 2012. I didn't earn a penny for five months.
The rest is history. I've stuck with it because I get to help people make their dreams come true. I get to be a trusted advisor for people during the biggest purchase most of them will ever make. The stakes are high. And I'm good at it. Like, really good at it. It doesn't even cost me much, if that makes sense. I'm wired for it.
Outside of work
We live in Aledo. I help coach Hank and Beau's baseball.
Friday is date night. Chel and I almost always go to dinner and sit at the bar. The bartender is usually the best server in the place. Old habits.
Every now and then Lottie and I go on a date. She bosses me around a lot. I joke that I'm her donkey. If she catches you sitting, she'll find something for you to do.
Loans I do
Purchase and refinance. I lend in Texas, Oklahoma, California, Colorado, Montana, Florida and Georgia, and I can help in all the other states too. Conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, construction, doctor loans, and temporary buydowns, and a Texas cash-out refinance when you want to pull equity out of your home. Plus the files that don't fit the box: non-QM loans, bank statement, DSCR, asset depletion, a mortgage after bankruptcy or foreclosure, and private money, hard money, and commercial.
Close to home: Fort Worth home loans, Aledo home loans, and Parker County home loans.
Tell me the deal
Call, email, or send the short form. Tell me whether you're buying or refinancing and where the property is, and I'll tell you what I need next. Questions first? Start with the FAQ.
